On October 11, 2007, nearly 60 years after the famous printmaker Yan Han left Yan'an, the "Yan Han Art Research Exhibition" was grandly opened at the Western Art Museum of Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibition includes works of various periods and styles of Mr. Yan Han's life, which has attracted the attention of teachers, students and art lovers. Former Secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee Bai Jinian, Deputy Director of the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture Liu Zhongjun, Deputy Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture Jiang Huili, Director of the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture An Yuanyuan, Director of the Secretariat of the Chinese Writers Association Xu Zhongzhi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts Wang Shuicai, Deputy Secretary Wang Xiao, Deputy Dean Guo Xianlu, Wang Shengli, Han Baosheng and Guo Beiping attended the opening ceremony. Mr. Yanhan's woodcut art has a very extensive influence in the northwest region, and old professors from Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts have also come to visit the exhibition one after another.

After the opening ceremony, an academic seminar entitled "Yanhan Art Research" was held. During the seminar, Mr. Yandong also introduced Mr. Yanhan’s experience in oil painting creation: he studied oil painting at Hangzhou Art College for a period of time, and after liberation he opened a Maksimov class in Xinsi Hutong, Beijing at that time. An old painter who specializes in teaching Yan'an to paint oil paintings, he learned very quickly. Although his woodcuts were already very influential in the West at that time, his works such as "Eight Route Army Crossing the Yellow River", "Tunnel Warfare", and "Bean Selection" were already very famous. But he still studied very humbly. The oil portrait is like steel, allowing him to completely burst his emotions into it, forming a completely different style from Maksimov.
